For years, North Hollywood’s Zombie Joe's Underground (ZJU) Theatre Group has been hosting their haunted theatre attraction (maze + vignettes) entitled “Urban Death”. This unique attraction is in a league of its own, delving deep into adult themed narratives that span the gamut of gothic storytelling and grotesque dramas. Urban Death has become a legendary fixture in the world of haunts, delivering a memorable mix of disturbing, haunting, and sometimes even intentionally comical experiences season after season.

With only a dim flashlight to illuminate your way, the maze at Urban Death takes you through an unlit set of hallways filled with strange characters. The route has been significantly altered this year which really threw us off of where we were naturally wanting to go. This was a great surprise that kept us on our toes throughout the whole “tour”.

For this year's stage performances, ZJU brought out their greatest hits that included their classic theater vignettes that leave audiences both disturbed and amused. In contrast to the confusion and awkwardness of audiences in the past, this year’s spectators thoroughly enjoyed the performances and heartily clapped throughout - creating a very different experience for everyone involved.

ZJU has developed a cult following through word of mouth as their reputation has increased in notoriety throughout the years. They have transformed their tiny storefront theater and maximized it into a really unique and fun experience. If you want to dive into an unparalleled theatrical world of horror and dark comedy this Halloween season, then ZJU is the perfect night out for you!
