review: jordan’s high desert haunt
Every haunt season, it is a great joy of ours to trek out to the High Desert. The isolation of this area is immense and, though only a 90 minute drive away, is a stark contrast to the congested, urban life of Los Angeles. Within this desert environment, haunted houses can thrive thanks to the greater amounts of space and lesser amounts of city inspectors poking around. And one of the most intense mazes that we ever go to, Jordan’s High Desert Haunt, thrives within these conditions.
When we say that Jordan’s is intense, we don’t mean the rough conditions of “extreme” haunts. What we mean is the intensity created by the energy and excitement of Jordan’s scare actors, a lot of whom are teens and children. These kids completely bombard you with scares as you travel through the maze. The energy here is relentless in nature and even more enhanced by the sets that resemble a post a post apokaliptik junkyard combined with a haunted Victorian mansion. This haunt grows every year, evolving and changing so that each Halloween season brings a new experience. There really isn’t anything quite like it.
