review: all saints lunatic asylum

The High Desert's original haunt, All Saints Lunatic Asylum, has for years been a top priority destination for our haunt voyages. Located in Apple Valley, All Saints was originally a home haunt - and then quickly expanded into a local strip mall storefront and then eventually took over a majority of the building itself. This haunted maze is filled to the cauldron with possessed doctors, demonic nurses, and other horrific characters - creating a truly frightening experience.

Since we visited last, the maze has evolved quite a bit. The most notable differences are the eliminations of the “elevator shaft” and the “outside” rooms. These have been replaced with more hospital-themed areas in order to make the Asylum more cohesive. The maze now feels more suspenseful since the hallways are narrower and the flickering lights are dimmer - sometimes going completely dark. The pacing of the maze is a lot more methodical, giving visitors time to soak in the expertly built sets, the wonderful scare actors, and the numerous animatronics. We thankfully made it out of the Asylum in one piece to tell the tale.

Even though All Saints Lunatic Asylum is located outside of LA County, we highly encourage you to make the trek out there. You can pair your visit with a trip to haunt neighbors Fear Farm and Jordan’s High Desert Haunt.
