REVIEW: Micheltorena Elementary School’s Haunted Maze

Silverlake’s Micheltorena Elementary School is presenting a haunted maze as part of this year’s Pumpkinfest. It is a great all ages haunt which brings kid friendly frights through illusions, props, and puppets.

When you enter into the haunt through the school’s basement you will meet your guide: a blue-haired mad scientist. He will take you through different themed areas of the maze, all of which have a great production value and are really fun. You will see floating school trophies, silver glowing balloons, giant black crow’s feet, and a dayglo cemetery complete with psychedelic mushrooms. There are many secret passageways and an amazing encounter with Toilet Tammy, a massive monster puppet who lives in the school’s toilets. Along the way you will hear about the legend of Chickencrow, a mysterious human/bird hybrid who is stealing the school’s chickens. Towards the end of the haunt you will come face to face with Chickencrow as he chases you out of the school.

The Pumpkinfest attraction is a great visit for youngsters who might be too scared of haunted houses. It’s also a great visit for anyone who enjoys friendly frights and seeing creativity at work. Pumpkinfest is open this afternoon and tomorrow from 11AM-2PM.
