REVIEW: Hollenbeck House Haunt

Ron and Gene Weihe have been running the Hollenbeck House Haunt for years from their beautiful 1890 Craftsman home in Covina. Ron, who owns a shaved ice and funnel cake business, operates the backyard maze while his father, Gene, decorates the front yard with hundreds of sinister and disturbing mannequins.

Hollenbeck House Haunt injects the haunted house experience with elements of carnival and sideshow attractions. Visitors can purchase tickets at the circus-like ticket booth, eat funnel cakes, and take in the the world’s largest horror mannequin collection. Once inside the maze you will be surrounded by animatronics and even more horror mannequins. At times it’s hard to distinguish the living from the artificial as you quickly turn each corner, unprepared for what meets you next. Included in the maze are references to Stranger Things and Halloween (the movie), and many, many clowns.

This haunt is a really fun place to visit. The admission is $5 and part of the proceeds benefit the Special Olympics. Seeing the world’s largest horror mannequin collection alone is worth the price of admission. Hollenbeck House Haunt is a great DIY home attraction which can be paired with its Covina neighbor, Haunted House 626.
