review: THE HAUNTED HARVEST

As a mainstay builder of California haunts, we have followed the career of the Perdition Home Haunt for quite a long time. Their home haunt, now retired, was located in Yorba Linda and maintained its reputation throughout the years as a must-visit attraction. Even though they changed themes every year, they consistently offered a theme park level quality of experience that impressed everyone who entered. Their sets, which contained gorey visuals surrounding you at every turn, created an immersive experience which made visitors feel like they were starring in their own horror film. Perdition outgrew their home haunt three years ago, and consequently created The Haunted Harvest. This new incarnation takes place within the massive cornfields of Chino's Frosty's Forest & Pumpkin Patch - elevating The Haunted Harvest to one of the most amazing haunt experiences in Southern California.

The Haunted Harvest incorporates the Perdition Home Haunt archives of previous themes and builds, which span over a decade, into a truly horrific experience. Their sets, located between scare actors hidden within long rows of corn, are filled to the brim with details and frights. Within the corn are even some mini scares provided by one of our favorite mazes ever - the Pirate’s Cave Haunt. Everything from Perdition’s previous home haunts, like their sci-fi/alien theme or their serial killer rooms, is included much to the joy of everyone brave enough to enter.

This year brings their incredible new entrance, "Hauntbuster Video" (which was previewed at this year's Midsummer Scream). This entrance recreates a 90's Blockbuster store and is filled with thousands of pieces of retro horror memorabilia. You enter the maze through the "break room" which is filled with wonderful horror nostalgia.

As The Haunted Harvest continues to evolve and expand, we can't help but wonder what they will do next. Their ideas and themes seem to have no limits in their ability to astonish and scare. We highly suggest to all haunters to make the trek to Chino to enjoy a truly memorable night filled with horrors within the cornfields.
