REVIEW: GLENWOOD MINE CO.

review: GLENWOOD MINE CO.

Last year we took the drive up to La Crescenta to visit a mysterious new home haunt named "Glenwood Haunted Mine". This yard maze was built by a gentleman named Kirby who successfully transformed his yard into a fully immersive mine. Built downward on the hill of his property, this maze is characterized by breathtaking tricks and illusions (like an elevator shaft which has moving chains and lights that shake during its bumpy descent). Our experience was truly a highlight of the 2022 Halloween season.

This year Kirby, who builds tiki bar pieces by day, switched the name of the maze to "Glenwood Mine Co." in order to encompass the more detailed experience now being offered. The first impressive new feature that visitors will notice is his addition of animatronic donkeys. These props remind us of riding classic rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Another welcomed addition was the increased amount of scare actors who enhance the immersive nature of this incredible maze.

This maze is absolutely awe-inspiring with its numerous hand painted signs, dynamite explosion entry, and realistic caverns. It creates a very authentic experience of a ghoulish subterranean world. Glenwood Mine Co. is such a welcomed addition to new haunt attractions in the LA area and we highly suggest you 'carve out' a way to visit this Halloween weekend!
