review: ghostwood manor presents pharaoh’s hall
Even though Pasadena has been an inspiration and backdrop for many horror movies (Halloween, Drag Me to Hell, Puppet Master, Child’s Play 2, Scream 2, etc.), there haven’t been many haunted house destinations there. Considering its proximity to Hollywood, it should be overflowing with spooky places to visit. While sadly this is not the case, this year brings “Ghostwood Manor presents Pharaoh’s Hall” - a wonderful, original maze by the extremely talented theater set builder, Stephen Taylor.
Pharaoh’s Hall is an exciting trip through a fog drenched Egyptian tomb filled with various mummy statues, all handmade by Taylor. The statues have sound effects and motion sensors that react to the tomb’s trespassers. Included in the cast of spectral entities are some very cool laser-eyed characters whose otherworldly gaze seems to go on forever through the swirling fog. Desert wind sound effects surround you as you try to make your way out of the tomb.
We highly encourage LA haunters to take a trip to Ghostwood Manor to experience Pharaoh's Hall. This is Taylor’s first voyage into becoming an interactive haunt builder and his work is very impressive. This would also be a good visit for those with haunt curious little ones who are weary of jump scares- making it a great destination for haunters of all ages.
