REVIEW: Fairbrook Manor

Long Beach's Fairbrook Manor has come a long way since its pandemic era display. While that was only a few years ago, it has since grown into a top tier maze full of exceptional scare actors (played by local theater students), incredible builds, and great storytelling. Most impressively, this multi-room maze has been built within a small front yard.

Fairbrook Manor tells the story of a woman named Victoria Fairbrook who lost her family in a drowning accident which caused her to enter into a complete state of madness. She then began kidnapping local children in order to have a family again. Eventually she poisoned herself which led to the inevitable demise of the children. Legend says that the ghosts of these children return every October, awaiting new friends to visit them.

This maze does an exceptional job of creating a Victorian atmosphere through both design and decor. The scare actors are all completely immersed in the story with their performances, ghoulish make-up and contact lenses, masks, and Victorian costumes. The rhythm of their relentlessness is perfectly timed, offering guests a maximum amount of surprises throughout their visit.

Halloween is a great time to have fun while showing off your creative skillset. Fairbrook Manor, whose walls are filled with talent, seamlessly does both. In addition, this maze exists as a fundraiser for their local food bank. The students who are fortunate enough to participate will leave you both exhilarated and impressed - so go visit the Manor's eerie apparitions before they fade into their final autumn night of the year…and materialize in the next October moonlight.
