review: Fairbrook manor

As we adjust back to our normal, everyday lives we can't help but reflect on another wonderful haunt season. We saw over 100+ amazing displays and mazes and are now catching up with our reviews from the final Halloween season weekend. We would like to begin with Long Beach's Fairbrook Manor - a newbie that quickly became a seasonal favorite of ours.

We first visited this gem during the 2020 haunt season. As the world seemed to flip completely upside down we took solace in running around and visiting the amazing SoCal yard displays. Fairbrook Manor made its debut that season and we were immediately taken by its beauty and attention to detail. Its haunted atmosphere bathed in green and purple lights was reminiscent of a cinematic New Orleans, with the main attraction being a floating ghost.

After one season as a display, Fairbrook Manor expanded into a maze that raises funds for a local food bank. The maze is filled with talented local teenage drama students who bring to life the story of this twisted manor. This entire experience is impressively achieved within the space of a front yard.

Fairbrook Manor quickly became a legendary, suspense-filled event. However this year, a day before opening night, one neighbor complained to the City who in turn promptly canceled the 2023 maze. Luckily this situation was quickly turned around thanks to the local community rallying together. As a result, Fairbrook Manor had its best season yet - with incredible construction and horrifying scare actors inhabiting its fog-filled corridors.
