REVIEW: DELUSION "THE BLUE BLADE" (DIRECTOR’S CUT)
The world of Delusion first manifested in 2011, and ever since has attracted a growing cult following with each new year of production. Crossing the threshold between the realms of interactive theatre and into the deep abysses of human imagination, Jon Braver has consistently offered extraordinary storytelling told through dazzling productions. His most recent play, “The Blue Blade”, takes you on an immersive adventure through time and space.
The Blue Blade premiered in the fall of 2018, and has now returned as a Director’s Cut version. Offering expanded experiences into the world of time travel and evil forces, visitors will embark on a quest to find the renegade historian Evelyn and the blue blade which she has stolen.
Unlike previous productions which were soaked in elements of horror and the macabre, The Blue Blade offers more of a science fiction experience. Though thematically different, this play still retains the signature art production and spectacular special effects of Delusion’s team of imagineers.
The Blue Blade (Director’s Cut) is both exhilarating and engaging, taking hold of you as you travel through multiple rooms in order to solve the clues which lead to the powerful time traveler, Evelyn. The Director’s Cut offers new plot twists and sets which will be greatly enjoyed by all, even if you experienced the original play last year.
Jon Braver’s imagination and talent is magnified through the collaborative work of his extraordinary team. The signature visions of Delusion are brought to life thanks to the masterful artistry of Aaron Hartley and the brilliant production design of Kevin Williams. Braver also does an exceptional job of choosing actors who excel at accomplishing a complete suspension of disbelief. One of our favorite actors is Elli Rahn, who played one of the best Delusion characters ever: Little Jeremy from “Lies Within”.
The Blue Blade (Director’s Cut) is a great exploration into the worlds of time travel and human nature. If you are a fan of science fiction and theoretical physics, or if you love exploring beyond the limits of your reality, then don’t miss the spectacular The Blue Blade (Director’s Cut).
Delusion: The Blue Blade runs until March 17th, 2019.
