REVIEW: BOOT HILL
Nothing represents the advent of autumn more than the Halloween yard display. Once summer temperatures drop and kids start heading back to school, the pumpkin lights and dusty skeletons are pulled from the attic and start appearing on porches all across America. This decorative tradition is taken to incredible creative heights by the Wild West themed yard display, Boot Hill.
Every fall this suburban Irvine home is masterfully transformed into a haunted cemetery from the Old West. Built within the space of a driveway, Boot Hill showcases every trick in the Halloween book - using animatronics, projections (cowboy ghosts!), and illusions that make momentary appearances. There is a beautiful neon green lake with floating jack-o’-lanterns, skeletons, and fireflies whose lighting mechanisms are reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean. There are numerous undead cowboys, some of which may or may not come to life…
If you visit the ghosts of Boot Hill make sure to allocate some time for parking and please be respectful of the neighborhood. This is a very special and legendary maze that has been haunting Irvine going on two decades, and we’d love to keep it that way. Not only is Boot Hill an epic home haunt, it is also a fundraiser which uses a donation box to collect proceeds for the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
